Bridging Histories

This institute invites K-5 educators to dive deep into the overlooked stories of Asian American immigration through Angel Island. Over two weeks, teachers will explore the impact of exclusionary policies on individuals and communities, learning how to bring these complex histories into the classroom in meaningful ways. Through site visits, workshops, and lectures, participants will gain the skills to approach immigration as more than a single story and to guide students in asking critical questions. By the end, participants will create resources for their own classrooms and districts, supporting a richer, more inclusive approach to teaching history.
