Travel
We recommend participants arrive in San Francisco by the evening of July 8th. Please aim to arrive at the hotel by 7 p.m. on the 8th to settle in. A welcome dinner and orientation will be hosted that evening, providing an opportunity for participants to meet each other, receive program materials, and review the itinerary.

For those flying in, transportation options from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) include public transit, rideshare, or taxi services. The Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) offers affordable transit from SFO to downtown San Francisco, with a station located near our hotel accommodations.

Lodging
Participants are responsible for their own lodging arrangements during the on-site portion of the program. To make planning easier, we’ve compiled a list of reasonably priced hotels within convenient access to Angel Island and key program locations in San Francisco. These hotels are located near public transportation and offer a range of options to suit different budgets:

-
Hotel Zephyr – Modern hotel near Fisherman’s Wharf, offering easy access to the Angel Island ferry. (Approx. $180–$220 per night)
-
HI San Francisco Downtown Hostel – Affordable lodging in the heart of San Francisco. Private rooms and shared dorms are available. (Approx. $50–$150 per night)
-
The Mosser – Historic boutique hotel in Union Square, with easy access to public transit and dining. (Approx. $130–$180 per night)
Please reach out to us if you need additional recommendations or assistance with booking.

Meals
We will provide dinner on July 8th, and lunch and dinner on July 10th. Participants will have the option to explore San Francisco’s dining options for other meals, with a list of recommended spots provided in your welcome packet.
Transportation
Our team will coordinate shuttle services on July 10th, when we will take a ferry to Angel Island and explore the immigration station and engage in place-based learning activities. Additional evening activities, including optional city excursions, will be provided in your welcome packet.
